'Help Save the Women You Love' Pin Project and Campaign
There may be no more terrifying moment in woman’s life than finding a lump in her breast.  If she has to tell the people she loves...husband, parents, children, partner, teammates, colleagues, friends, sisters, brothers...that it’s cancer, all of those lives are changed forever.  It’s a disease that affects everyone in a women’s life.  The soccer community now has an opportunity to ensure that every year fewer and fewer women must have that terrible conversation.

The Kicks Against Breast Cancer Pin Project is the American soccer initiative to help women living with breast cancer survive and thrive.  The Campaign is "Help Save the Women You Love" with U.S. National Team and L. A. Galaxy star Landon Donovan, his mom, Donna Kenney-Cash and his twin sister, Tristan Donovan, serving as the Pin Project’s first spokesfamily.

"I competely support the efforts of the Kicks Against Breast Cancer campaign and I am proud to be the spokesperson.  I encourage you all to support the efforts and continue to spread awareness about breast cancer.  Let’s take care of the women in our lives!"  - Landon Donovan, LA Galaxy and US National Team

The gold soccer ball lapel pin with a pink enameled ribbon is available online.  The pins are 10 for $30.  Order many and give them to your teammates, players, coaches, parents, colleagues, friends and family.  They each arrive attached to a unique message explaining the project.

The KICKS Against Breast Cancer Pin Project can only be successful with the help of the entire soccer community.

KICKS Against Breast Cancer
Honors the Memory of Claudia Mayer
The KICKS Against Breast Cancer Intercollegiate Soccer Tournament was established in honor of Claudia Mayer, a friend of tournament Director Louise Waxler (WUSA/Washington Freedom), who passed away in 1996 after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

Since the inception of the tournament 10 years ago, donations and fundraising by participating teams has totaled more than $600,000. The funds have been used to assist with the operating expenses for Howard County General Hospital’s  Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center in Columbia, Maryland . Since the inaugural tournament, many other businesses have joined in establishing additional fundraising events. Small in size but large in compassion, the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center  is a service of Howard County General Hospital : A Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. It combines a comfortable, well-selected lending library and private, fully equipped salon all under one roof.
